Portrait of Brahms
Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) - Ein Deutsches Requiem We present a performance of Brahms' German Requiem on the centenary of the Armistice. This is Part 1 of our two part concert series, 'Response to a Requiem'. This work is often seen as a Requiem for the Living. Our interpretation looks not at the experience of conflict or the battlefield, but the experience of those on its margins: those left at home, the displaced, those living with the aftermath of war.
